{ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ }
Introduction:
"Duniya ki chamak dhamak baaz auqat insaan ko itna andha kar deti hai ke wo thore se maali faide ya kisi rutbe ki khatir Allah ke hukmon ko nazar-andaz karne lagta hai. Hum mein se aksar log ye sochte hain ke 'choti si ghalti' ya 'thori si khamoshi' se kya farq parta hai? Magar Surah Al-Baqarah ki Ayat 174 aur 175 humein ek aisi haqeeqat se daraati hain jo rooh ko kanpa dene wali hai.
In ayaat mein Allah Ta'ala ne un logon ka zikr kiya hai jo Deen ko apni marzi ke mutabiq istemal karte hain ya Haq ko chhupate hain. Inka anjam sirf azab nahi, balkay Allah ki narazgi aur khamoshi hai. Aaiye aaj in do ayaat ki roshni mein apne gireban mein jhankte hain ke kahin hum bhi hidayat ke badle gumrahi to nahi kharid rahe?"
Introduction (English):
"In a world driven by material gains and social status, it is easy to lose sight of the ultimate truth. Sometimes, we remain silent or twist the words of Allah just to please people or gain a small worldly benefit. But have we ever wondered what the cost of this silence is?
In Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 174 and 175, Allah (SWT) gives a stern warning to those who 'sell' His verses for a small price. This is not just about the people of the past; it is a profound lesson for us today. These verses reveal a terrifying consequence: consuming fire into our very beings and facing a Day of Judgment where Allah will not even speak to us. Let’s dive deep into these verses to understand how we can protect our faith from the greed of this world."

Ayat 174
Woh jo chhupate hain Allah ki utari hui Kitab aur uske badle thori si qeemat le lete hain, wo apne pait mein aag hi bharte hain; aur Allah Qayamat ke din unse baat na karega aur na unhein pak-saaf karega, aur unke liye dard-nak azab hai.
Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book and exchange it for a small price—those consume into their bellies nothing but fire. And Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they will have a painful punishment.
Ayat 175
Yeh woh log hain jinhone hidayat ke badle gumrahi mol li aur bakhshish ke badle azab, toh kis darja unhein aag ki sahaar hai.
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance and punishment [in exchange] for forgiveness. How patient they are in pursuit of the Fire!
Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayat 174-175 Tafseer— Haq Chhupane ka Anjam
1. Shaan-e-Nuzool:
Mushrikeen aur Yahoodi Ulama ka Kirdaar
Is ayat mein Allah Ta'ala do girohon ka zikr farma raha hai:
Mushrikeen ka Giroh: Sab se pehle un Mushrikeen-e-Makkah ke aamaal ka zikr hai jo Allah ki ayaat ko chhupate aur unka inkaar karte the.
Yahoodi Ulama ki Sazish:
Phir un Yahoodi sardaron ka zikr hai jo Nabi Kareem ﷺ se hasad karte the. Unhein darr tha ke agar Taurat o Injeel mein maujood Huzoor ﷺ ki nait-o-sifat (qualities) logon par zahir ho gayin, to unki sardari aur nadrane khatam ho jayenge.
2. "Haq Chhupana" Kya Hai? (Today's Perspective)
Aaj ke dor mein bhi "Haq chhupana" sirf khamosh rehna nahi hai, balkay is mein ye surtein shamil hain:
Tehreef (Galat Tashreeh):
Zaati mufaad ke liye galat taweelein (meanings) kar ke asli maani par parda dalna. Maslan Sood (Interest), Parda, ya Tauheed ke ahkaamat mein apni marzi ki tabdeeli karna.
3. Paanch (5) Khaufnak Saza aur Tafseeli Maani
Allah Ta'ala ne is bura sauda karne walon ke liye ye sakht sazaein bayan farmayi hain:
Saza: Pait mein Aag Bharna
Tafseeli Maani:
Jo haraam maal, rishwat ya hadiye Haq chhupane ke badle liye jate hain, wo dikhne mein to duniya ki lazzat hain, lekin haqeeqat mein wo "Jahannam ki Aag" hain jo wo apne pait mein bhar rahe hain.
Saza: Allah ki Khamoshi (Ham-kalami se Mehroomi)
Tafseeli Maani:
Qayamat ke din Allah Ta'ala unse baat tak nahi karega. Ek momin ke liye is se bari saza aur koi nahi ke uska Khaliq us se naraz ho kar rukh pher le.
Saza: Paki (Purification) se Mehroomi
Tafseeli Maani:
Allah unhein gunahon se pak-saaf nahi karega; wo kufr aur na-farmani ki gandagi mein hi doobe rahenge.
Saza: Dard-nak Azab
Tafseeli Maani:
Unke liye aakhirat mein aisa azab taiyar hai jo nihayat takleef-deh aur dard-nak hoga.
Saza: Hidayat ke Badle Gumrahi ka Sauda
Tafseeli Maani:
Unhon ne Hidayat chor kar Gumrahi aur Maghfirat chor kar Azab kharid liya. Allah farmata hai ke ye log aag par kitne sabr karne wale ban gaye hain, yani kya ye samajhte hain ke wo jahannam bardasht kar lenge?
Practical Lessons (Hamare Liye Sabaq)
Duniya ki Qeemat:
Allah ki nazar mein puri duniya ki badshahat bhi uske ek hukum ke muqablay mein "Thori si Qeemat" (Saman-an Qaleela) hai.
Rizq-e-Halal:
Wo faida jo Deen ki kisi baat ko chhupane se mile, wo haraam hai aur pait mein aag bharne ke barabar hai.
Sachaai par Isteqamat:
Kisi ke darr ya laalach mein aakar kabhi bhi Allah ke ahkaamat ko chhupana ya badalna nahi chahiye.
Tafseer (English)
1. Background of Revelation: The Role of Pagans and Jewish Scholars
In these verses, Allah (SWT) mentions two specific groups:
The Group of Pagans: First, it refers to the actions of the Pagans of Makkah who used to hide the signs of Allah and reject them.
The Conspiracy of Jewish Scholars: Then, it mentions the Jewish leaders who were jealous of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. They feared that if the qualities and attributes of the Prophet ﷺ mentioned in the Torah and Gospel were revealed to the people, their leadership and the offerings (gifts) they received would end. For the sake of this worldly status and wealth, they concealed the parts of Allah’s Book that contained the glad tidings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
2. What is "Concealing the Truth"? (Today's Perspective)
In today’s world, "concealing the truth" is not just about remaining silent; it includes the following forms:
Concealment of Knowledge (Kitman-e-Ilm): Hiding the actual content of Allah’s Book from people or refusing to inform them.
Distortion (Misinterpretation): Using false interpretations for personal gain to cover up the original meaning. For example, changing the rulings regarding Interest (Riba), Hijab, or the Oneness of Allah (Tawheed) according to one's own desires.
3. Five (5) Terrifying Punishments and Their Detailed Meanings
Allah (SWT) has described these severe punishments for those who make this "bad bargain":
Punishment:
Filling the Belly with Fire
Detailed Meaning:
The forbidden wealth, bribes, or gifts taken in exchange for hiding the Truth may appear as worldly pleasures, but in reality, they are the "Fire of Hell" that they are filling into their stomachs.
Punishment:
Allah’s Silence (Deprivation of Divine Conversation)
Detailed Meaning:
On the Day of Resurrection, Allah (SWT) will not even speak to them. For a believer, there is no greater punishment than their Creator being so displeased that He turns away from them.
Punishment:
Deprivation of Purification
Detailed Meaning:
Allah will not purify them of their sins; they will remain drowned in the filth of disbelief and disobedience.
Punishment:
A Painful Torment
Detailed Meaning:
A punishment is prepared for them in the Hereafter that will be extremely painful and agonizing.
Punishment:
Trading Guidance for Misguidance
Detailed Meaning:
They abandoned Guidance to buy Misguidance and gave up Forgiveness to buy Punishment. Allah says, "How patient they are in pursuit of the Fire!"—meaning, do they really think they can endure the heat of Hell?
Practical Lessons (Lessons for Us)
The Value of This World:
In the sight of Allah, the kingship of the entire world is merely a "small price" (Saman-an Qaleela) compared to even one of His commands.
The Importance of Halal Sustenance:
Any benefit gained by hiding a matter of Deen is Haram and is equivalent to filling one's belly with fire.
Steadfastness on Truth:
One should never hide or change the commands of Allah out of fear of someone or due to greed for worldly gain.
Key Points: Surah Al-Baqarah (174-175)
Haq Chhupane ki Saza:
Jo log Allah ki Kitab ko duniyawi faide ke liye chhupate hain, wo dar-asl apne pait mein Jahannam ki Aag bhar rahe hain.
Kya hum log Allah ki narazgi bardasht kar sakte hain? Hargiz nahi! Hamare paas nekiyan to pehle hi nahi hain, agar Allah ko bhi naraz kar diya to duniya aur akhirat dono tabah aur barbad hain. Is liye Allah ko razi karo, logon ko nahi.
Bura Sauda:
In logon ne Hidayat (Guidance) bech kar Gumrahi (Error) kharid li aur Maafi ke badle Azab ka intekhab kiya. Kya faida hua aisa kar ke? Duniya to fani hai jo ek din khatam ho jani hai. Hamari zindagi waise hi bohot choti hai, phir kyun hum is thori si zindagi ke liye har galat kaam karne ko tayyar hain aur Hidayat bech kar Gumrahi kharid rahe hain?
Duniya ki Qeemat:
Allah ke nazdeek puri duniya ka faida uski ek ayat ke muqablay mein "Thori si Qeemat" (Saman-an Qaleela) hai.
Shaan-e-Nuzool:
Ye ayaat un Yahoodi ulama aur Mushrikeen ke bare mein nazil huin jinhone Huzoor ﷺ ke ousaaf ko logon se chhupaya taake unka duniyawi rutba khatam na ho.
Tehreef se Warning:
Ayat humein khabardaar karti hai ke Deen ke ahkaamat (Sood, Parda, Tauheed) mein apni marzi ki galat tashreeh karna isi sakht gunah mein shamil hai.
Key Points (English)
Punishment for Hiding the Truth:
Those who conceal Allah’s Book for worldly gain are effectively filling their bellies with the Fire of Hell.
Allah’s Displeasure:
On the Day of Judgment, Allah will neither speak to them nor purify them. Can we truly endure Allah's anger? Not at all. We are already lacking in good deeds; if we also provoke Allah’s wrath, both our world and the hereafter will be ruined. Therefore, strive to please Allah, not people.
A Bad Bargain:
These people traded Guidance for Error and Forgiveness for Punishment. What is the benefit of such a deal? This world is temporary and bound to end. Our lives are already so short; why then are we ready to commit every wrong and sell our guidance for misguidance for such a brief existence?
The Value of This World:
In the sight of Allah, the profit of the entire world is a "small price" (Saman-an Qaleela) compared to even a single verse of His.
Background of Revelation:
These verses were revealed regarding the Jewish scholars and pagans who concealed the characteristics of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to safeguard their worldly status.
Warning Against Misinterpretation:
The verse warns us that interpreting religious laws (such as Interest, Hijab, or the Oneness of Allah) according to our own desires is part of this grave sin.
Dil ki Baat: Ek Chota sa Ehsas
Dosto, Surah Al-Baqarah ki ye ayaat parhte hue mera dil kaanp utha. Hum aksar sochte hain ke "Haq chhupane" wale sirf purani qomon ke log the, lekin agar hum thori der ke liye thair kar apne aaj par nazar dalein, to kya hum bhi waisa hi nahi kar rahe?
Kitni baar aisa hota hai ke humein pata hota hai ke koi baat galat hai, koi rawaj Deen ke khilaf hai, ya koi kaam Allah ko naraz karne wala hai—lekin hum sirf is liye khamosh ho jate hain ke log kya kahenge? Ya phir humein darr hota hai ke agar hum ne sach bola to hamara faida ruk jayega ya log hum se door ho jayenge.
Aaj kal hum ne ek naya kaam shuru kiya hai... Hum gunah karte hain aur dil ki tasalli ke liye uska naam badal dete hain. Jab hum jhoot bolte hain, to humein pata hota hai ke ye jhoot hai, lekin hum usay "bahane" ka naam de dete hain. Rishwat ko "gift" keh kar halaal karne ki koshish karte hain aur Sood (Interest) ko "Profit" ka naam de dete hain. Zara sochein, kya ye Allah ke hukam ko chhupana aur apni marzi ke mutabiq dhalna nahi hai?
Aaj ka insaan thore se paise ke liye bik gaya hai. Allah par se hamara yakeen uth gaya hai, tabhi to hum galat aur haraam kaamon mein kamyabi dhoondte hain. Magar yaad rakhein, kamyabi sirf nek amalaon mein hai jo Allah ne bataye hain. Hum "Society" ke hisab se chalte hain, ye soch kar ke "log kya kahenge?" Magar haqeeqat ye hai ke aakhir mein logon ne sirf Inna lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji'un hi kehna hai.
Hum logon ko dikhane ke liye karza utha kar bari shadiyan karte hain. Dekho dosto! Logon ko chhodein aur Allah ke baare mein sochein ke Wo kya kahega. Jab zindagi Allah ki marzi se guzari jaye, to phir Allah bhi aapki duayein sunta hai aur unhein qabool farmata hai.
Allah ne is duniyawi faide ko "Thori si qeemat" kaha hai. Kitni badi baat hai na? Puri duniya ka sukoon aur paisa bhi Allah ke ek hukum ke samne kuch nahi. Sochein, kya wo "faida" waqai faida hai jo hamare pait mein aag bhar raha ho? Kya wo log waqai hamare humdard hain jinhein razi karte karte hamara Rab hum se itna naraz ho jaye ke Qayamat ke din hum se baat tak na kare?
Aaj hamare pas waqt hai ke hum ruju karein. Ameen.
A Heartfelt Reflection: A Small Realization
Friends, my heart trembled while reading these verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. We often think that those who "concealed the truth" were only people of the past, but if we pause for a moment and look at our lives today, aren't we doing the same?
How many times does it happen that we know something is wrong, or a custom is against the Deen, or an act displeases Allah—yet we remain silent just thinking, "What will people say?" Or we fear that if we speak the truth, our profit will stop or people will distance themselves from us.
Nowadays, we have started a new trend... We commit sins and change their names just to satisfy our hearts. When we lie, we know it’s a lie, but we call it an "excuse." We try to make bribery permissible by calling it a "gift," and we rename Interest (Riba) as "Profit." Just think, isn't this concealing Allah's command and molding it according to our own desires?
Today's human has sold themselves for a little bit of money. We have lost our firm tawakkul (trust) in Allah, which is why we search for success in wrong and forbidden (Haraam) deeds. But remember, true success lies only in the righteous deeds prescribed by Allah. We live according to "Society," worrying about "What will people think?" But the reality is that in the end, people will only say, "Inna lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji'un" (To Allah we belong and to Him we return).
We take out loans to throw grand weddings just to show off to others. Look, my friends! Leave the people and think about Allah—what will He say? When life is lived according to the will of Allah, then Allah also listens to your desires and accepts your prayers.
Allah has called this worldly gain a "small price." Isn't that profound? All the peace and wealth of this world are nothing compared to a single command of Allah. Think, is that "benefit" truly a benefit if it is filling our bellies with fire? Are those people truly our well-wishers if, by pleasing them, our Lord becomes so displeased that He won't even speak to us on the Day of Judgment?
Today, we still have time to return to Him. Let us not mold the Deen according to our desires; instead, let us mold ourselves according to the Deen. May Allah grant us all the strength to stand firm on the truth and keep our livelihood and our faith pure. Ameen.

"I hope today’s writing touches your hearts and helps us reflect on our faith and actions. Remember, this world is temporary, and true success lies in the pleasure of Allah. If this post has added to your knowledge, please share it with your loved ones so it may become a form of continuous charity (Sadqa-e-Jariya) for you.
And if anyone among you is addicted to a sin or possesses a bad habit, they should immediately seek sincere repentance (Tauba) from Allah and resolve to walk the path of righteousness. Therefore, we must all strive to abandon our bad habits, walk the path of virtue, and seek to please Allah. May Allah grant us the strength to act upon what we learn more than just speaking or hearing it. Ameen
